Phlorum was established in 2003 by Paul Beckett and Richard Schofield. Their vision was to bring their key skills into an environmental consultancy that practises honesty, friendliness, openness and a passion for their work.

Dr Paul Beckett
Dr Paul Beckett completed his degree in Biology at the University of Sussex in 1995, and gained a Masters degree in Environmental Forestry a year later at the University of Bangor. He was subsequently offered the opportunity to undertake a Forestry Commission-sponsored DPhil (PhD) so returned to Sussex, publishing a number of eco-physiology and air pollution papers along the way. After completing his studies, Paul was employed by WSP and then RPS Group as an air quality consultant, where he met Richard Schofield. Paul’s areas of expertise are air quality, Japanese knotweed, and plant ecology.
Richard Schofield graduated from De Montfort University in 1993 with a degree in Science and the Environment. In 1996 he completed a Masters degree in EIA and auditing at the University of East Anglia. He was then employed by Broughton Beatty Partnership, and has also worked for Babtie (now Jacobs), Ashdown Environmental and RPS Group. Richard specialises in contaminated land, environmental management, Japanese knotweed and is also a BREEAM licensed assessor and chartered environmentalist.
