Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) Consultancy
The Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (known as CRC) is the UK's mandatory climate change and energy saving scheme. It has been designed by the Government to help reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency, through:
- raising awareness in large organisations to encourage changes in behaviour and infrastructure to reduce carbon emission from energy use;
- putting the environmental performance of organisations in the public eye by publishing a performance league table.
Organisations are affected by the CRC if their peak energy demand exceeded 100kW in three out of the previous twelve months, or if their half hourly electricity consumption exceeds 6,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) per annum.
DECC estimate around 20,000 organisations will qualify. These organisations will have to comply legally with the scheme or face financial and other penalties.
