We have specific qualifications and experience in projects where contamination is a major issue and our capabilities in related environmental disciplines mean we offer a uniquely client-centred approach.
At present, Part II of the Environmental Protection Act (EPA) 1990 and the Contaminated Land Regulations 2006 are the main pieces of legislation covering contaminated land in England. However, assessments and potential remediation of contaminated land is often dealt with as conditions in planning permissions.
Enforcing authorities can serve Remediation Notices, specifying what needs to be done to an area of contaminated land. With the implementation of the Landfill Directive, the cost of disposing of waste can be costly. As a result, on site treatment is often the most sustainable and cost-effective option.
Phlorum is not tied to a single remediation technique and therefore will review all practical remediation options when assessing a site.
