Phlorum Christmas Bash

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

Phlorum’s staff christmas lunch was enjoyed by everyone (even Paul, despite being on antibiotics; all together now, aaaaah). Lunch at Seven dials restaurant was gorgeous, followed by a few at the Tin Drum opposite, where Aidan’s better half was enjoying her party (cue a mention for her boss dressed in camo, promising us champagne before falling over a table). Glen, Ant and Aidan (the 3 mustav-beers) were the last ones standing, as you can see in this delightful picture! Here’s to next year’s!

This remarkable discovery was made this day in 1784 accidentally by rural clergyman, Gilbert White in his Hampshire parish but it was not until 1814 that Dr William Wells identified the process at work: cold air, because it is heavier, flows downhill, collecting in hollows in the landscape. 150 years later fruit growers in Kent come to terms with the phenomenon of ‘frost hollows’ or ‘pockets’.

Image and video hosting by TinyPicThe moon is looking absolutely amazing at the moment and, according to the people who know, it will do for a few more days and then the chance to see something similar is very unlikely ever again!

On a really clear night, as it was last night, you can see the moon brilliantly but, better than that, just beside it you will see Venus and then a little further away, Jupiter. Well worth a look.
