Spring must be on its way

Ant’s graduation

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Here is Anthony looking very smart outside the Brighton Dome where he had his graduation ceremony last Friday. He graduated with a distinction in MSc Sustainability of the Built Environment at the University of Brighton. His links with the uni are not lost as Anthony is heading our KTP project, which involves monthly meetings with University representatives, including his old professor. He had a great day, luckily this photo was taken before the champagne had kicked in.

Richard’s undefeated past!

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Image and video hosting by TinyPicYou might find it hard to guess which one he is but Richard is pictured here as a bright young lad playing (and winning) in his undefeated team in 1983 at Cothill House School! Why is he thinking about those days now? Because there is to be a reunion of The Victorious 1st XV at the end of this month to which Richard has, obviously, been asked to attend. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to be there as he will be in Sweden making arrangements for his forthcoming marriage.

By the way, he is second from the left, back row.

Ellen and James from Bowland Ecology came over to Phlorum at the University of Sussex yesterday to run a training masterclass for some specialist aspects of ecological surveying. Glen, Simon and Aidan (pictured above with Ellen and James in centre) felt that they had enhanced their expertise from this comprehensive seminar.

In conjunction with Brighton University KTP, Anthony started full-time on Monday this week, although he is having a day off on Friday for his graduation. He will be concentrating mainly on developing a model to predict the cradle-to-grave carbon footprint of new-build housing developments, but will be providing sustainability consultancy when required.

Phlorum’s business not affected by the snow!

Although the heavy snowfall kept most of us away from the Brighton office on Monday, thankfully Paul cycled in to keep things running.

Also Glen, in the Manchester office, was not affected by this ’significant weather event’.  Apparently, Paul was a bit lonely; only being visited by people who needed change for the vending machine as the cafe was shut. He managed to survive on crisps and chocolate and then braved it home again on his trusty bicycle.

Snow chaos!

Paul's snowy commute

There’s something really uplifting about a bit of snow.

So far, Paul is the only person who has made it into the Southern office, thanks to a pair of knobbly tyres and a bit of grunt.
